WIC Program

Distributing baby carriers through educational programming.

What is WIC?

Currently, Women Infant and Children (WIC) serves approximately 53% of all US infants, providing food coupons, nutritional counseling, breastfeeding support, and basic medical referrals. The total federal budget for these critical services is $6.1 billion, administered at the Federal level by Food Nutrition Services. WIC is currently administered by 90 WIC state agencies, with approximately 47,000 authorized retailers. WIC operates through 1,900 local agencies in 10,000 clinic sites, in 50 State health departments, 34 Indian Tribal Organizations, D.C, and five territories.

Why WIC?

WIC's current structure and processes are a natural fit for BCP carrier distribution programming. Parents enrolled in WIC already attend appointments and meetings aimed at providing information and education. BCP trained WIC counselors will provide parents with hands-on baby carrier training, which will allow parents to receive the baby carrier of their choice.

Baby Carriers Provided currently has more than half of Michigan's WIC offices on a waitlist. We have interested offices in California, Oregon, Tennessee, and Utah. Help us bring our programming to every state and territory.
